Project Background

In response to student interest and to address local workforce demands for careers in trades, SPS would establish a new, full-time trades high school serving grades 9-12.

Students in this program could graduate with their high school diploma and a Direct Transfer Agreement Associate Degree (AA-DTA), an Associate in Applied Science-Transfer Degree (AAS-T), and numerous other career and technical education (CTE) certificates that will prepare them to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation and/or continue their educational studies to successfully achieve a variety of career goals.

Spokane Colleges has signed on as a community partner to explore providing facility options on the Spokane Community College campus for the SPS trades high school with integrated programming opportunities that would support students’ future goals.

Project Status

Funding for this project was included in the voter-approved 2025 SPS bond.

In early 2026, SPS and SCC leadership continue to explore options for the Trades High School on the SCC Campus and discuss initial plans for shared resources, including joint use of facilities, equipment, and aligning architectural services.

Additionally, SPS Career and Technical Education (CTE) are meeting with industry partner advisors in Construction, Manufacturing and Health Services industry to ensure Trades High School curriculum and programming aligns with workforce demands.
