Project Proposal

First built in 1909 and expanded in 1917, Adams Elementary is the oldest school in Spokane. Enrollment growth in the area required the addition of several portable buildings in the 1970s, and the main school building has issues with efficiency, accessibility, functionality, and security. The current building also does not fulfill Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards for Accessible Design, lacking an elevator and appropriate ramp access. At this time, students living in the Adams boundaries needing these accommodations currently must transfer to a different elementary school.

The 2015 bond funded a design for a new building and was completed by NAC Architecture of Spokane. This proposed project to rebuild Adams is “shovel ready” and could break ground as early as April 2026.
