For some Spokane residents, the “neighborhood park” is the green space and playground at their local elementary school.
SPS and Parks recognize that many citizens use school facilities on weekends and after hours as park spaces. This initiative proposes working together to increase access and improve safety during times of open public use with additional Special Commission Park Rangers presence outside of school hours.
Renovate Garry Middle School and adjacent Nevada Park to maximize benefit for the school and community
Renovate oldest portions of the building to address issues of efficiency and safety.
Develop southwest fields with Spokane Youth Sports Association to extend field use and support increased student and community interest in recreational activities.

Provide at least one all-weather rectangular field and at least one turf infield with lighting within each neighborhood high school boundary.
Plan to establish a school where students can graduate with a high school diploma, a two-year degree, and other career and technical education (CTE) certificates.
