Every SPS bond includes resources for annual improvement projects to upgrade facilities across the school district to meet changing program needs, improve safety, and extend the useful life of buildings. Typical projects include interior upgrades, new playground equipment, roofing and surfacing enhancements, HVAC improvements, and other updates.

With Spokane voter approval of the 2025 Bond, Spokane Public Schools will implement an Annual Building Improvement Project program for the remainder of the 2025-26 school year and every year through 2030.

Each year, the SPS Capital Projects team gathers input from principals, maintenance and safety department staff to develop a recommended list of smaller projects to undertake in the following year. The "Annual Capital Projects Program" is then reviewed and approved by the school board.

A list of all Annual Building Improvement Projects since 2018 provides more examples of the scope and cost of these efforts to keep district facilities in good working order.

We will share an update of 2025-26 Annual Building Improvement Projects when approved by the school board.
