Early learning paves the way for lifelong learning. Good learning experiences during the first five years of life also support overall health, and well-being, no matter if it takes place at home, in a childcare setting or in a preschool.

SPS has increased public opportunities for early learning with a no-cost four day per week preschool program for 4-year-olds at every elementary school, with efforts to expand this program through the Together Spokane initiative. We want to continue developing programming and partnerships with local early learning and childcare providers to dramatically increase preschool and childcare access from infancy onward.

This proposal suggests launching an online Community Preschool Directory to support coordinated enrolment with community providers to connect families with resources for early learning.
