Meadowglen Park Pre-Construction Begins Spring 2026

7 May 2026

Site preparation begins the week of May 18, 2026 at Meadowglen Park, ahead of planned construction beginning this summer.

The future park was designed through community feedback over the past couple of years, and will include a playground, restroom, sport court, sand volleyball courts, picnic area, trail access, walking paths, and a bus stop.

Approximately 16 acres will remain natural land, while 14 acres will be developed into a park.

Fuels reduction is an important part of pre-construction work, ensuring the tree stand is healthy.

Carefully considered tree removals are included in this process, in concert with the Spokane Fire Department’s Wildland Resources team. The end result will be:

  • Preservation of the large ponderosa pine stand along Indian Trail road
  • Opening of views into the park site from Indian Trail road
  • Reduction of neighborhood wildfire risk
  • Preparation for a 14 acre park development project, and preservation of 16 acres of heathy, resilient natural landscape

Construction is anticipated to begin this summer, with completion and opening of the new park in summer 2027.
