Southeast Sports Complex Construction Update

September 11, 2026

As fall sports begin, we want to provide a brief update on the construction projects at Southeast Sports Complex, which are progressing on schedule.

Parking: The City has teamed up with KXLY, the adjacent property owner, to improve access and expand parking at the Southeast Sports Complex. As part of an access exchange approved in 2016, KXLY is constructing a larger parking lot, increasing capacity from 88 stalls to approximately 140 stalls, and improving the entry and exit points. This work is being completed at no cost to Parks & Recreation.

The first phase of parking improvements, which will add 60 stalls, is expected to be completed in early October. The second phase, which will add additional stalls, is scheduled for completion in the spring.

Restroom Facilities: In conjunction with the parking project, KXLY is also building a new restroom and storage facility to serve the fields, again at no cost to Parks & Recreation.

The new restrooms will be completed alongside the first phase of parking improvements in early October. In the meantime, portable toilets are available on-site, and permanent restrooms are located on the northwest corner near the playground.

Next Steps: A new pedestrian trail along the southern side of the park, stretching from Altamont to Regal, is planned for implementation in 2027.

Thank you for your patience as we navigate construction on these capital improvements.

Note: KXLY previously built a full U-18 sized soccer field at the SW corner of the complex at no cost to Parks & Recreation.
